Boitnott Declared Elected to Second Term as President
VEA President Kitty Boitnott, running unopposed for a second term of office, was declared elected by the VEA Board of Directors at the group’s meeting in January. A school library information specialist from Henrico, Boitnott has led VEA through significant challenges brought on by the state’s financial crisis. She’s reinforced the Association’s focus on membership and organizing while also seeking to enhance the VEA’s instructional leadership capacity through the creation of a new Office of Teaching and Learning. Her second two-year term as VEA president will begin Aug. 1.
Also running unopposed and declared elected by the board were VEA Vice President Meg Gruber (Prince William) and Lee Dorman (Arlington), who holds one of three seats on the NEA Board of Directors.
