The Resource

Planting Seeds
With Students

NYC-based Brooklyn Botanic Garden has published a new handbook called Gardening with Children, devoted entirely to activities and projects that help connect kids to nature through gardening.

The book, developed by members of BBG's education staff, encourages children to discover nature's cycles as they grow plants from seed. It includes more than 40 hands-on activities, experiments and explorations; journal-keeping and art activities; easy-to-follow instructions; full-color illustrations; and a complete glossary and index.

Gardening with Children is available at a discount direct from BBG's online shop at, or at bookstores for $9.95.
