Sign Up Now for Local Presidents Retreat at the University of Richmond

It is time to start planning your July “learning vacation” with VEA at the University of Richmond!

The 2014 Local Presidents Retreat (LPR) will take place July 27-29 and conclude in time for you to attend the Reggie Smith Organizing School, which begins on July 30. LPR will feature skill-building activities and practical tips from seasoned leaders to help you lead your local Association to new heights.  It is designed by Local Presidents for ALL Local Presidents serving in the 2014-15 school year.

This year’s Retreat will have classes for first-year Local Presidents AND veteran Local Presidents as well.  Also, you may invite a member of your local executive committee (Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer) to participate!  Our intention is to give you some of the best training possible with the opportunity to create plans to implement during the school year, including your new teacher orientation.

We will also introduce you to LiveBinders.com, a website where you can access any and all documents, websites, PowerPoints, etc. needed to be a successful Local President. And, the website will be updated consistently to provide more and more information for Local Presidents as the year goes on.

This is a Retreat, right? So, there has to be some fun involved.  Well, do you like line dancing?  (Come on, you know you do!) On Monday night, July 28th, we will have a Dessert and Line Dancing Social led by a professional Line Dancing trainer!  Even if you’re not into line dancing, this is going to be a lot of fun!

You will also have an opportunity to meet with your colleagues who have the same level of experience, are in the same region, as well as in locals that are about the same size as yours.

Speaking of sizes, we will have t-shirts for everybody so please be sure to include your shirt size as you register for LPR!

Any questions? Send an e-mail to VEA Vice President Dominic Melito at Dmelito@veanea.org or Sandra Melvin at smelvin@veanea.org, our Administrative Support to the LPR.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Retreat!
