2017-2018 VEA-Retired Leadership

Current officers of VEA-Retired are:

R. Edward Fifer, president and VEA board member-at-large
Patricia Kennedy, vice president
Malia Huddle, secretary-treasurer
Dennis Pfenning, VEA board member-at-large
Denise Davis, PAC rep

The president and other officers are elected by VEA-Retired members to a two-year term and may be elected to a second two-year term. The president’s term includes a two-year term as delegate to the VEA Delegate Assembly and the NEA Representative Assembly.

The VEA-Retired Council consists of the president, vice president, secretary-treasurer, retired board member, and an elected representative from each of Virginia’s 11 congressional districts. The 2017-2018 Congressional Council representatives are:

  • Rita B. Cooper, Congressional District 2
  • Vacant, Congressional District 3
  • LaNette Desler, Congressional District 4
  • Sylvia Hutto, Congressional District 5
  • Sharon Helbert, Congressional District 6
