EdEquity VA

EdEquity VA - VEA Website

These equity education training materials were assembled and promoted by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for the use of local school divisions in training their educators. However, following Gov. Youngkin’s Executive Order 1, Superintendent Jillian Balow ordered these links to be removed from the VDOE website on the grounds they “promote discriminatory and divisive concepts.” The Virginia Education Association thinks it is important for local school divisions and individual educators to have access to quality equity training materials, so we are making them available here as a public service.

This tool should be completed by multiple individuals/stakeholders who represent the diversity of the school community. This includes administrators, teachers, support personnel, families/caregivers, and, where appropriate, students.

Navigating Virginia Education in Uncertain Times

The Virginia LEARNS workgroup was convened to develop checkpoints based on information gathered over the past year. In addition to the many perspectives that each workgroup member provided, the agency solicited feedback from the public. This input was qualitatively analyzed and provided strong recommendations about how to move forward.
