VEA Fund Backs Aaron Rouse for Virginia Senate in Special Election

Aaron Rouse has earned the backing of educators, receiving the recommendation of the Virginia Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education in the special election being held January 10 in Virginia Beach to fill an empty seat in Senate District 7.
“As a member of City Council in Virginia Beach, Aaron Rouse has always been a strong supporter of public schools, students, and educators,” said Dr. James J. Fedderman, VEA president and chair of the VEA Fund. “Now, Virginia Beach families have the opportunity to elect him to the Virginia Senate, where we look forward to his continued leadership on issues like investing in our schools, keeping students safe, and providing living wages for education professionals.”
Early voting is underway in this special election, being held to fill the seat vacated when State Senator Jen Kiggans was elected to Congress in November.
Teacher shortages are a serious issue across the country. Here in Virginia, there are currently over 3,648 unfilled teaching positions. (FY23)
